  • 200 g Rice cakes that are cylindrical (tteok)
  • 100 g Salmon cakes, chopped into morsels
  • 2 boiled Eggs
  • 2 sliced Soaked dried shiitake mushrooms
  • 2 Green unions
  • 1 sheet Shredded, roasted seaweed
  • 1 Vegetable oil
  • 4 cups Water
  • 2 Gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
  • 2 Gochugaru (Korean red chili flakes)
  • 2 Sugar
  • 1 Soy sauce
  • 1 Minced Garlic
  • 1 Salt
  • Sesame seeds for garnish


  • For around 30 minutes, soak the rice cakes in warm water to make them softer. Drain, then set apart.
  • Heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a large pan or wok. Stir-fry the minced garlic for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  • Gochujang and gochugaru should be added to the pan. The ingredients should be thoroughly mixed to make a tasty sauce base.
  • Add the sugar and soy sauce after adding the water. Stir the sugar until it completely dissolves.
  • The sauce should also include the soaked rice cakes and shiitake mushrooms (if using). Simmer the rice cakes for 10 to 15 minutes, or until they are soft and chewy, and the sauce has thickened.
